No one is discussing a labor shortage nowadays. There is a lot of banter on how to manage GenY's, and Millennials. But a forgotten group of people is the Zoomers -- the "50 plus" generation. Media innovator Moses Znaimer created a new approach to view the "50 plus."

"The population bubble that was the youth market Three decades ago is, today, the marketplace I've thought as Zoomers," says Znaimer. "They were the dominant generation then... they continue to be the dominant generation now. Zoomers certainly are a growing, vibrant and affluent community. They look in the world with optimism; these are engaged and wish to enrich their lives and the lives with their communities."

Zoomers encompass the Middle-agers (ages 44 to 62) the ones older.

It is a vast group -- 14.5 million, accounting for 44 per-cent of people, and controlling over 77 % of most Canadian wealth. they probably control a lot of the wealth in America and Europe too.

Considering more interesting statistics that tell the intellectual prowess of Zoomers:

 The fastest growing demographic on Facebook is still women over 55 -- there are now nearly 1.5 million of which participating in Facebook month after month.
 There have to do with 4.6 million Facebook users 45 -- 54, and 2.8 million over 55. The amount of these intellectually vibrant everyone is growing everyday.

Well, some of them. The fact is, there are plenty of exhausted Zoomers available just waiting to emerge from the shackles from the corporate tread mill. Count on me, them all some time during my are a company psychologist.

And therein could be the challenge for leaders and managers. Many Zoomers feel expected to stay working because their amount of money have reduced terribly. Other people still attempting to work, maybe in another way than we did 25 -- Three decades ago but work still provides a great deal of meaning.

Is it possible to just forget about having to pay special awareness of training, motivating, intriguing your Zoomer employees? They will be happy just to have a career, right? Not a way.

This brilliant Disruption is mainly responsible for us to hunker down and check our best to keep our jobs. I personally use the first person here because I'm 66 and am still very mixed up in working world on Twitter, LinkedIn, writing articles for ezines, producing vlogs, blogging, webinars, virtual book tours and iPhone apps.

Zoomers will be in work for years. We now have plenty of experience -- the good, the not so good, the ugly and the beautiful -- to contribute. We spent my youth thinking the globe was our oyster. Were disappointed while at the same time living a most affluent life interrupted by periods of serious anxieties about what are you doing to your world -- both personally and globally.

So a manager must be aware a still employed Zoomer knows the ropes, working the device, has witnessed management fads -- and managers -- come and go.

S/he is a sometimes "crusty" element to deal with in the workplace. Be respectful. Ask for a Zoomer's input (we will be reluctant to start with because we've got also been asked more often than not, and then be ignored).

Zoomers show up on time. We're resentful of GenY's and Millennials who're more casual regarding the timepiece. So managers you'll have to be highly skilled at managing conflict relating to the generations. As a skilful negotiator you will have to know how to incorporate the divergent values of the generations.

Managers should outline your expectations clearly to Zoomers. The alive, bright, ambitious ones will cherish that. The laggards will resent you. You'll have to stay the program while not alienating them. One on one's perform well to shift a disengaged Zoomer right into a more committed employee. Zoomers tend to be accustomed to acquiescing to authority than GenY's or Millennials. Do it in private to nuture the Zoomer's self-respect.
